Greg Burnett has served in a variety of community and civic government positions throughout the 27 years he and his family have lived in Norwalk, CT. In 2003, Mayor Alex Knopp appointed Greg to the Board of Estimate and Taxation, and to the Norwalk Facilities Construction Commission. In November 2005, Greg was elected by public vote to the Norwalk Board of Education serving a four year term. In November 2009, he was appointed by Mayor Richard Moccia to the Norwalk Board of Health. In November 2014, Mayor Harry Rilling appointed Greg to the Board of Estimate and Taxation as Chairperson.

In November 2017 and 2019 Greg was elected to the Norwalk Common Council as an At-Large candidate. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Finance and Claims Committee, and a member of the Community Services and Personnel Committee, and Land Use and Building Management Committee. In 2020 he served as the Majority Leader of the Common Council. He also serves on the Fairfield County Vaccine Strike Force Team and is an active volunteer on the Norwalk Emergency Response Team. In each of these positions, Greg worked closely with other Board members and volunteers to ensure Norwalk continued to grow and offer an attractive environment for its residents from an economic, educational, and healthy way of living standpoint.

Professionally, Greg retired from the IBM Corporation after comprising over 36 years of technical and managerial experience. Currently, he is the New York Region Encore Fellowship Program Director matching skilled, seasoned professionals to high impact, paid transitional assignments at social purpose organizations. Encore.org is an innovation hub tapping the age 50-plus population for social good. Greg earned undergraduate degrees in biology and sociology from Syracuse University. He also earned a Certificate in Human Resources Studies from Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations, New York.

Greg is a Nationally Certified Track and Field Official covering high school, college, and elite championship level competitions. He serves as the USATF National Officials Committee Area 11 Awards Sub-Committee Chairperson. He is an active member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and recently elected as a Regional Board Director to the Omega Life Membership Foundation, Inc. focused on providing college scholarships, community service and uplift to those in need. Greg was installed as an Advisory Board member to the Norwalk Salvation Army Corps. He is a Notary Public in the State of Connecticut and a Justice of the Peace in the City of Norwalk. Greg enjoys tennis, various cuisines, and cheering his New York Knicks to another World Championship.
