Kara Nelson Baekey is a senior advertising executive who drives innovation and growth for a global digital production services company in the healthcare space. She is currently serving as co-Vice President of the newly formed Norwalk P-TECH PTSO, where her youngest child is a student.

A Connecticut native, Kara has lived in Norwalk for almost 20 years. In December 2012, she was moved to action in the wake of the shooting at Sandy Hook, co-founding the CT Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and serving as its leader for over 6 years.

Kara attended Tulane University as well as the Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. In 2017, she was a Darien/Norwalk YWCA Woman of Distinction, awarded for her work on the issue of gun violence in our community.

Kara is passionate about equity, opportunity and safety for all children.
