Chairman Ed Camacho called the meeting to order at 7:45 PM.

Roll Call
Recording Secretary Elsa Peterson Obuchowski called the roll.

District A: Nicol Ayers, Julie Corbett (proxy Daniel V. Obuchowski), Andy Garfunkel, Laoise King, Eloisa Melendez, Elsa Peterson Obuchowski, Joseph Perella, Broderick Sawyer , Jalin Sead, Steve Serasis, Chris Yerinides.
NOTE: Andy Garfunkel appointed Tod Bryant to be his proxy, but Andy was able to attend after all so no proxy was needed.

District B: Ronald Banks, Raymond Dunlap, Daisy Franklin, Manny Langella, Mike Mushak, Sonja Oliver, Migdalia Rivas, Travis Simms, Sharon Stewart, Michael Witherspoon (proxy William Roberts), Martha Wooten-Dumas.
NOTE: District B members Olivia Dardy and Howard White resigned and Michael Geake moved out of the state of CT.

Chairman Ed Camacho delivered regrets from State Senator Bob Duff, who could not attend because he is in Hartford working on the state budget. He thanked the DTC members for being present. He appointed former Mayor Alex Knopp as Parliamentarian for the meeting. He acknowledge the three new members who are in District B: Ronald Banks, Daisy Franklin, and Travis Simms. He outlined the procedure for voting, as stated in the Agenda.

1. The sole purpose of the meeting is to endorse candidates for Municipal Office.

2. Nominations will be held in the following order:
Council Members – in-district (10)
Taxing District Commissioners (TBA)
Taxing District Treasurers (TBA)
Council Members – at-large (5)
Board Of Education (4)
Constable (4) (7 of 8)
Selectmen (2) (3 of 4)
Town Clerk (1)
City Sheriff (1)
City Treasurer (1)
Mayor (1)

3. Rules governing nominations and seconds:

a. Nominations:

District: The Chairs of each district will be recognized to report their district’s recommendation to the membership, and there will be inquiries for any additional nominations. Only members of DTC of that district are eligible to nominate.

There may be an up to 1 min nominating speech, no seconds are required, and no seconding or acceptance speeches. A candidate may simply accept or decline the nomination. Hearing no further nominations, we will proceed to a vote of eligible members.

Taxing districts: Eligible DTC members from each given taxing district will be asked to nominate eligible candidates for Taxing Commissioners and Treasurers.

There may be an up to 1 min nominating speech, no are seconds required, and no seconding or acceptance speeches. A candidate may simply accept or decline the nomination. Hearing no further nominations, we will proceed to a vote of eligible members.

At-large nominations: Any DTC member may nominate candidates for any at-large office.

Mayor: A speaker will be recognized to nominate a candidate for mayor. The Candidate for Mayor may make a nomination acceptance speech. Hearing no other nominations, we will proceed to a vote of eligible members.

b) Voting:
We will conduct a roll call vote of all 11 DTC voting members from each district. Asterisk indicates candidates who prevailed with the most votes.

Before the voting continued, Democratic Registrar of Voters Stuart Wells explained that all endorsed candidates must sign a form accepting the endorsement which must be submitted to the State of CT by Tuesday 7/25. He also explained how to get petitions, for those candidates who didn’t prevail tonight and wish to force a primary.
