The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ed Camacho at 7:45.
There was not a quorum when the meeting began and therefor no vote was taken on the Minutes. There was no Treasurers Report.
The Chairman reported that between the 18th and 20th of July – most likely the 20th– we would have our nominating meeting. He then introduced Chris Mattie, a candidate for Governor
Chris Mattie said he was inspired to run by his experiences as a teacher on a Navaho reservation and his experience as a prosecutor. His experience as a prosecutor has illustrated the need for public financing of elections and he strongly supports the program. His financial vision for Connecticut includes tolls and allowing small businesses to enter the State employee health care program. This would allow then to hire more people and expand. he wants to allow municipalities to charge sales tax which would relieve some of the pressure on property taxes.
Barbara Smyth introduced herself. She lives in District D and is thinking of running for the Common Council.
John Igneri gave the Council Report. He said the mall is moving through the process and should be starting work soon. They are making progress and working hard.
Mike Barbis said that the B of E faces a budget crises because they assumed that the unions would change their health care to the state plan 2.0. Two unions agreed to the change but the Teacher’s union has not. If the teacher’s union will not budge, they will have to make some personnel cuts. June 12th is the Middle School graduation and June 15th is the High School graduation.
Galen Wells reported on the fundraising effort. The will be a fundraiser for John and Tom and the DTC at her house on June 23rd and a fundraiser for the DTC on the 28th at the Blind Rhino celebrating the 4th of July and Thomas Hooker, the drafter of the CT Constitution, with Hooker Beer.

Respectfully submitted by Galen Wells
